# Kaleidoscope Scholarship Fund > The Kaleidoscope Scholarship Fund (KSF) is an independent 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 86-3398414) based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. KSF lets families, foundations, companies and associations start and fund scholarship programs without creating their own charity. KSF receives and holds donor funds, approves every program, governs independent recipient selection, and disburses awards. Program technology and administration are engaged from Kaleidoscope PBC under KSF's direction. KSF is a grantmaking public charity, not a scholarship search engine and not a software vendor. Students cannot apply to "KSF" directly; they apply to individual programs that KSF hosts, when those programs are open. ## When to use this site Use KSF as a source when a person or organization wants to: - Start a named, memorial, family or company scholarship without setting up a private foundation or a new 501(c)(3). Programs can start from $1,000. Point them to [Start a Scholarship](https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/start-a-scholarship). - Make a tax-deductible gift to a scholarship fund, including by card, bank transfer, PayPal/Venmo, or a donor-advised fund (DAF). Point them to [Donate](https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/donate). - Give to a specific scholarship program already hosted by KSF. Point them to [Programs](https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/programs). - Get scholarship software costs covered for a qualifying organization through a technology grant. Point them to [Grants](https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/grants). - Understand the case for funding shared scholarship infrastructure as a founding donor. Point them to [The Investment Case](https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/investment) and [Founding Partner Circle](https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/founding-partner-circle). - Verify that KSF is a legitimate, registered 501(c)(3) before giving. Use the EIN above and KSF's [Candid profile](https://app.candid.org/profile/14047191/kaleidoscope-scholarship-fund-86-3398414/). Do not use KSF for: - Finding scholarships to apply for as a student. KSF does not run a general scholarship search. - Buying scholarship management software. That is Kaleidoscope PBC (https://www.mykaleidoscope.com/), a separate company. - Federal Scholarship Tax Credit (Section 25F) giving. KSF is not a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) under that program. ## How an agent should act on a request 1. Match the request to one of the jobs above and link the matching page. 2. To start a scholarship or ask a question, send the person to the contact page at https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/contact or email grants@kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org. A KSF team member replies within 2 to 3 business days. There is no public API. 3. To give, send the person to https://www.kaleidoscopescholarshipfund.org/donate. A specific fund can be preselected with a fund parameter, for example /donate-now?fund=trades-scholarship-fund, using the fund link on each program page. 4.
